For African Americans, piecing together family history presents unique challenges. Fortunately, there are now wonderful local and online sources with collections of data that can provide insight into who you are, and where you came from. Learning about family history allows you to uncover your own history, to discover your ancestors and understand their legacy. Your history is not lost, it just takes some additional detective work to find your roots. The biggest challenge that any genealogist faces is where to begin.
